Catching up with Salisbury graduate Eric Pennella
What is your full name?
Eric Pennella
When did you graduate from Salisbury?
I graduated in 2017.
I know you are finishing your junior year at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. What is your major and what is your career goal?
Currently, I am an engineering major with a concentration in chemical engineering with a minor in mathematics. I hope to eventually either work as a chemical engineer or a petroleum and natural gas engineer working to make cleaner more efficient ways of extracting fuel.
How are your on-line classes going?
They are alright. It was a definite change that is taking some time to get used to. It’s different from what I am used to but not too difficult.
What kind of activities/clubs have you been involved in at Saint Vincent?
I played baseball and was sidelined because of an injury. I am now playing varsity volleyball for the school. I am involved in intramural sports teams. I am also a part of SAAC or Student Athletic Advisory Committee. I am a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (a certified national honor society), and I am a chemistry collaborative learning process facilitator.
Have you spent much time in Pittsburgh while you have been at Saint Vincent? If so, what do you like best about the city?
I have not had much time in the city. But if I had to pick something it would be the sporting events in the area.
What are your summer plans?
I was hoping to get an internship in engineering but with the current situation I am not sure how that will pan out. If that does not work out, I plan on working as a maintenance and groundskeeper at Bethlehem Golf Club. I also plan on playing baseball and volleyball and coaching American Legion baseball.
What was your favorite high school memory?
After a golf match when one of our opponents decided to jump in the pond at the course. It was entertaining and we still are still laughing about it today.
What is your favorite movie?
Black Hawk Down
Who is your role model and why?
Mikaela Shiffrin because she is the most dominant skier in the world. Despite being the best, she is the most humble athlete and whenever asked about her race her response is always about how her competitors did and not her.
