The focus of technology use in Salisbury Township School District is to prepare students for their future, a world of digital technology and information. An atmosphere that provides students with immediate access to online and local network resources is essential to survival in the 21st century. Research indicates that students who have access to technology on a regular basis show a significant improvement in their learning skills over students who do not have regular access.
With this in mind, Salisbury Township School District launched Teaching & Learning 2020 (TL2020) in the 2014-15 school year. This initiative, the logical next step in bringing our Learning Beliefs to reality, provided a personal laptop computer to all students grades 2-12 and an iPad for students grades K-1. Over the past several years, our staff members have been engaged in professional development with digital learning tools and instructional strategies, and have been transforming lesson delivery to better reach every learner in the most effective manner. We are beginning to see improved learning outcomes through the use of technology in teaching and learning.
Students live in an on-demand, technology dependent world. They learn and approach schoolwork differently than students did even a few years ago. These changes, driven by technology, significantly impact learning. As we move deeper into the 21st century, excellence in education requires that technology be seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to opportunities through technology is essential for that future.
