Yesterday the WSE Reading Olympics team competed in an in-school virtual competition. Congratulations to these 4th and 5th graders who read from a list of 45 books, worked as a team for 5 months, and battled through 3 tie-breaker rounds during their competition. Not quite the same as the IU competition, but still a lot of fun!

Ms. Horne's second graders have come up with some special ways of practicing their spelling words!
Today's Leadership Quote of the Day is:
"It always seems impossible until it is done." Nelson Mandela
WSE DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS!!! Please take a moment to watch our very own 5th grader from Mrs. DeBona's class, Ava B., as she presents today's announcements! It looks like she has a special guest with her today. Hmmm? I wonder who it could be?

WSE First Graders Traegan, Jaxson, and Lochlan respond to their Shared Reading Think Critically questions. Great job, kids!

A little Q&A with Salisbury Senior Gavin Strelecki
What is your full name?
Gavin Nikolas Strelecki
What are your hobbies?
I love to watch sports and play them, also I am very into cars. I love working on them, building them and detailing them. Also, I spend lots of time with my family and friends.
Do you have any pets?
I have a turtle named Squirt.
How would your friends describe you?
Funny, outgoing, and just an all around character to be around.
What is your favorite subject?
I would definitely have to say history is my favorite subject. I love learning about how we came to be the world we are today.
Who is your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Laub. I loved being in his business classes as well as just talking to him on a daily basis. He is an all around great person to talk to no matter if it is serious or just about sports.
What is your favorite Salisbury memory?
My favorite Salisbury memory was being a part of the football team. No matter how you were a part of the team, we all are family and I have made some of my best friends during football. As well as beating Notre Dame this past year, that was just one of amazing memories from football.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie of all time is The Wolf of Wall Street.
Are you involved in any community service projects?
My family has all grown up around Fountain Hill so whenever I can help out with either putting flags for the soldiers in the cemeteries or even helping take care of Lechauweki Springs Park. I always love to be a part of that.
Who is your role model and why?
My role model would have to be my grandfather. No matter how annoying I am or anything I do, he is always there to show me the good sides and the bad sides of things; he teaches me lessons every day. He is my role model because in the future I want to be that person that people come to if they need anything. I am a very helpful person, and I would say I learned that from him.
What’s next after graduation?
After graduation I plan on starting a career at a mechanic shop and possibly going to tech school to master my skills in auto technology. Further down the road, I would love to open my own performance and tuning shop for cars and motorcycles to assist and help other people build their dream car, truck or motorcycle.
