Catching up with Salisbury graduate James Stout What is your full name? James Cole Stout When did you graduate from Salisbury? 2012 Tell us about your life since high school. I attended LCCC and majored in the Professional Pilot Program and earned 71 credits. I obtained my private pilot license, worked in private security attaining many promotions and certifications for about nine years to present. I also have been a mobile private event DJ and have also performed in many public spaces locally. I currently work full-time for Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 as their school safety specialist and also part-time at a local college as a campus police officer. What are you most proud of personally and/or professionally? Personally, I am most proud of earning my private pilot license. It was a really difficult venture that required a lot of focus and understanding of complex concepts. Professionally, I am proud of the growth and hard work I have put forth in the criminal justice field to have acquired all the professional experience and certifications I hold. How has the pandemic impacted you and what have you learned from it? The pandemic has impacted my DJing services as well as my ability to travel and socialize with friends. I’ve certainly learned to never take a day for granted and make more time to vacation and gather with friends and others to experience more of the world outside of work and education. What was your favorite high school memory? My favorite high school memory was being a part of the varsity baseball team’s 2011 state championship runner-up team and my senior year playoff run as well! Go Falcons! How is your family doing? My mother has recently retired and my father is still working, and soon also hopes to retire. I’m thankful to still have them in my life regularly. Like many families, we certainly still have our challenges from time to time. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would you choose and why? This is such a tough question for me, because I feel like this changes every so often. Currently I might say Robin Williams. He had an amazing sense of humor and really just in general seemed publicly joyful and would have probably been a great person to spend time with. Who is your role model and why? On a realistic level, one of my many role models would have been a manager of mine from a former employer. He was a dedicated employee who persevered through a lot and was still such a humble person with a high level of honor and integrity on his name, and always ready to serve those who needed it. He also was highly intelligent and carried himself in a very professional manner. He was also vastly knowledgeable and skilled in his field and learning from him certainly helped shape the person I have become as a professional. #yoursalisbury
