A little Q&A with Salisbury Senior Paige Gibbons What is your full name? Paige Gibbons What are your hobbies? My favorite hobby is to play tennis, which I do year round. I also enjoy working out, hanging out with my friends, and traveling. Over the past year, I have also been into French cooking by using my Julia Child’s cookbook. If you have pets, list what kind and names. I have one dog, a Yorkie-Bichon mix, named Barklee. How would your friends describe you? My friends would describe me as thoughtful, independent, reliable, and ambitious. What is your favorite subject? My favorite subject is Anatomy & Physiology because I enjoy learning about the parts and functions of the human body. This class catalyzed my interest in the health field through incorporating scientific dissections and intriguing class discussions. Who is your favorite teacher? Picking a favorite teacher is not an easy decision for me. Mrs. Wilson has always encouraged me to be diligent and study hard, Mrs. Kennedy has never failed to make me laugh and ease my day, and Mr. Frick is always there for me whenever I need it. What is your favorite movie? My all-time favorite movie is Breakfast At Tiffany’s. I love everything about this movie from the lead actress, Audrey Hepburn, to the setting/plot to the soundtrack and the clothing. Are you involved in any community service projects? One of my biggest achievements throughout high school was volunteering over 120 hours at St. Luke’s University Hospital. There, I would assist nurses in accommodating the needs of patients and run supplies to different floors of the hospital. I also had the opportunity to volunteer and observe on the surgical floor. Who is your role model and why? My role model is my Popop. I always look up to him because of his kindness and positivity. What’s next after graduation? I will be attending the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall to achieve a BSN with a possible minor in Health Services Management. I hope to either be a pediatric oncology nurse or work in the business side of the medical field. #yoursalisbury

Catching up with Salisbury graduate Chad Cooperman What is your full name? Chad Peter Cooperman When did you graduate from Salisbury? Class of 2016 Tell us about your life since high school. The last five years I have been attending Bloomsburg University. During the first four years I completed a B.S.B.A. in Supply Chain Management and graduated in May, 2020. This past year I have been enrolled as a graduate student pursuing a Masters of Business Administration which will be completed in August, 2021. This past year I have also been working as a graduate assistant in the school’s Title IX Office. During the five years at Bloomsburg, I have also been a member of the baseball team where I have been a pitcher and infielder for the Huskies. I have also been quite busy during the summer and winter breaks from school as well. For a few years in the winter I officiated PIAA basketball. This past winter I had the opportunity to work as a pitching coordinator at Rockland Peak Performance where I helped to develop and prepare collegiate and professional pitchers for the upcoming season. I spent one summer in Staunton, VA, where I played in the Valley Baseball League. I have also played baseball locally in the summer for the Allentown Railers throughout the years as well. I have also worked as an intern at PPL in their supply chain department for the last two summers and will be starting a full-time position beginning this upcoming summer. What are you most proud of personally and/or professionally? Personally, I am most proud of how I have developed on the field, in the classroom, and in the community over the last five years. On the baseball diamond, my career started as a recruited walk-on. I have put in a lot of time and effort into becoming a better player and will leave college holding the school strikeout record and was fortunate enough to win a PSAC Championship among other individual accomplishments along the way. In the classroom I graduated with honors and will shortly obtain a graduate degree. In the community, I have led numerous community service activities as a captain of the baseball team as well as the president of our Student Athlete Advisory Committee. How has the pandemic impacted you and what have you learned from it? The pandemic definitely changed my personal timeline a little bit, but I have been trying to make the most out of the situation. My true senior year at Bloomsburg was cut short. As a result, the NCAA granted all athletes another year of eligibility. Thus, I returned to pursue a graduate degree and play out my final season of baseball. Fortunately, PPL extended the timeline for me as well and allowed me to come back as an intern last summer, and held a full-time role for me starting this summer. All in all, things haven’t gone exactly as I have planned but I have always tried to play the best hand with the cards I have been dealt. What was your favorite high school memory? My favorite high school memories come from both the basketball court and the baseball diamond. On the court, I enjoyed making states my freshmen and senior years, and enjoyed playing in the Colonial League championship a few times as well. On the baseball diamond, the state run of 2013 was exciting to be a part of, as well as numerous playoffs games that stand strong in my memory. Who is your role model and why? Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by great teachers, professors, teammates, classmates and family members. One that stands out is my brother Tyler (class of 2013). He has qualities that any younger brother is fortunate to look up to. His work ethic stands out the most and he has always been there to assist me in any way possible. #yoursalisbury

A little Q&A with Salisbury Senior Nathan D’Alessandro What is your full name? My full name is Nathan David D'Alessandro. What are your hobbies? In my spare time I like to go on long bike rides with my family. In the summer I spend my days swimming in our pool. I love hanging out with my family and walking my dog. If you have pets, list what kind and names. I have a five year-old black pug named Batman. How would your friends describe you? I think my friends would describe me as funny, polite and respectful. What is your favorite subject? My favorite subject is math. Who is your favorite teacher? I have a few favorite teachers. Ms. Evener is my very favorite teacher! She is funny and always makes class fun. She helps me to be independent, respectful, to do my best work, and helps get me ready to go out into the real world after graduation. Another one of my favorite teachers is Mrs. Borthwick. She's also funny and has taught me how to cook, how to sew, and how to fold a lot of clothes! Another one of my favorite teachers is Mr. Linsenbigler. He taught me about photography and how to take really creative pictures. What is your favorite movie? I don't really have a favorite movie. I do like to watch "North Woods Law" on TV with my family though. It's a reality show about Game Wardens in New Hampshire and what they do to take care of animals and nature throughout the state. Since we go to New Hampshire on vacation every summer, I know most of the places that the show talks about. Are you involved in any community service projects? When I took textiles class with Mrs. Borthwick, I sewed bears to donate to the Salisbury Township Police Department. Also, my family always donates food and clothing to people in need. Who is your role model and why? My sister Paige is my role model. She works really hard in school and she is the nicest person I know. What’s next after graduation? I will graduate with my class this June, but I will still be attending SHS next year to continue the Work- Based Learning Program. The following year, I will be applying for the one year VIP Program with the CLIU21. Then my last year, I want to apply for the Project Search Program which will give me another year to explore job options. I will officially graduate from SHS when I am 21 years old. At that time, I hope to have a full time job doing something that I enjoy. #yoursalisbury
