Tutoring Services

The tutoring program at Salisbury Middle School is designed to assist students who are facing ongoing challenges in a specific academic content area and/or with general study and organizational skills development. Students are strongly encouraged to seek out the teacher in the academic content area in which he or she is struggling prior to seeking tutoring options. This is best accomplished during the morning activity period (period 1). The process of initiating tutoring begins with a referral from a teacher, administrator, parent or guardian, student service group such as the Child Study or Student Assistance Programs, and/or the student requiring assistance. The tutoring program adheres to a peer-helping-peer model in which tutors are carefully selected by content area teachers to ensure that they are skilled in the academic area in which they will be providing services as a tutor.

Tutoring requests are made and fulfilled through the guidance office.  If you wish to request tutoring services or learn more about our tutoring program, please contact Mr. Dorward (ext. 3532 or mdorward@stsd.org).
