Special Education Plan 2021-2024

The Special Education Department within the Salisbury Township School District has drafted the Special Education Plan in conjunction with our parents, board members, staff, and administration.  A brief overview of the Special Education Plan was presented to our school board on May 4, 2022.  The plan will go for public review and comment until June 3, 2022, while seeking Board approval on June 15, 2022.  The plan will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education on or before July 30, 2022, for review and approval.

There is an urgent need for volunteers in Carbon and Lehigh Counties for the IU Surrogate Parent Program. Volunteers must be willing to travel to schools in either county. Surrogates participate in educational planning for special needs students who have been orphaned or abandoned by their parents. Retired educators, parents, or siblings of special needs students and college students majoring in special education, are a great resource for this advocacy role.

Training, information, support, and communication are provided by the IU coordinator. This volunteer position requires only 1 or 2 hours per month. If you can offer some of your time, please contact the Surrogate Parent Program Coordinator:
