Tips On Wearing a Face Mask

The CDC is now recommending that people wear a non-medical face mask when going out in public areas where social distancing is hard to maintain. There are several important things to be aware of when wearing a face mask.

  1. Wearing a face mask does not protect you from getting the virus. Instead it is thought wearing a mask helps to slow the spread of transmission of the virus from people who don’t know they have it.

  2. A mask should not be used on someone who can’t remove it themselves, children under age 2, or by someone who has trouble breathing.

  3. Wash your hands before putting the mask on.

  4. Once the mask is on, do not take it off and put it back on, do not adjust it, pull it down to eat or talk, or put your hands near your face.

  5. When you are home, take the mask off by untying it or pulling the straps off from around your ears. Don't touch your face. Put your mask in the wash and wash your hands.
