Stop the Bleed

National Stop the Bleed Month and Day

Mark your calendars! May is National Stop the Bleed Month. This month-long observance highlights the importance of Stop the Bleed training and offers the public training courses in bleeding control techniques. An additional focus will be directed to May 21, 2020, which will be the third annual National Stop the Bleed Day. We’ll have more information on this website by spring 2020.

It is estimated that as many as 30-40% of the people with significant bleeding injuries can be saved by someone equipped with the knowledge in bleeding control techniques.

Did you know that a large population of the Salisbury School District staff has been trained in the proper ways to treat emergency bleeding? Of the staff that has been trained in Stop the Bleed a kit filled with the essentials to assist them has been provided and these kits are kept within their classrooms.

Each summer more and more staff are voluntarily being trained in the essentials of Stop the Bleed.

If you are a Salisbury School District staff member and would like to learn more please contact Bill Brackett; Director of Facilities, Safety & Security.
