Ken Parliman, Principal

It is my pleasure to continue to serve you as principal again this year!   I have been Principal of Salisbury Middle School since 2015.  Prior to becoming principal, I had many leadership experiences including math department lead teacher, instructional coach in the Allentown School District, as well as assistant principal in Salisbury Middle School. I also have 8 years of classroom teaching experience as a math teacher in the Allentown School District.  My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Economics from Moravian College, a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University, and a superintendent certification from IU21.

I am blessed to be the father of three extraordinary children, Brielle, Bailey and Hudson and married to their amazing mother, Cathy.   I thrive to instill a love for learning in my children as well as yours!  We value our time together and try to make the most of every moment.

It is my privilege to lead Salisbury Middle School and our talented teachers and students here!  I strive to develop a supportive and caring environment, where our students and staff want to come learn (and play) on a daily basis.  I believe that learning begins in the home and it's our role to support our families with their child's learning.   We respect and value the relationships we build with our families, which is what makes a small school like SMS unique.  I look forward to building upon existing relationships and developing new ones throughout this school year!

Jason Laky, School Resources Officer

The School Resource Officer(SRO) program was implemented in the Salisbury Township School District in September 2005, by mutual consent and agreement of the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners and the Salisbury Township School District, with the following goals:

  • To create and maintain a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment for students, parents, teachers, and all other school personnel

  • To establish a trusting channel of communication with students, parents, and teachers

  • To serve as a positive role model

  • To take steps appropriate and consistent with a law enforcement officer’s duty, if a crime should occur

  • To bridge the gap between law enforcement officers and students and to increase positive attitudes toward law enforcement

The SRO program is just that, a resource. This program represents and reflects a proactive community partnership between Salisbury Township and the Salisbury Township School District. The SRO program is based on a triad concept, which consists of a law enforcement officer, a teacher, and an informal counselor. As a law enforcement officer, the SRO investigates crimes and makes arrests, when state laws are violated. The SRO can be an educational resource and can provide law related information to students, parents, and teachers. The SRO may also work with the school’s counselors to provide information on community services, as well as the law. School Resource Officers have become a valuable part of schools and an important link between students and the police community.
