Join us for an Evening with Matthew J. Zakreski, Psy.D., as he presents on using games to help teach and model Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Many gifted students do respond well to traditional SEL interventions, so adapting already existing activities to meet SEL standards is an effective intervention. This presentation will also review the psychological theory behind using games as a social skills methodology. This presentation will also demonstrate some various games (Improv and otherwise) and invite attendees to observe and participate. Ultimately, these games serve as a client-created, interactive, controlled, and entertaining intervention that has been shown to help support the development of students as people inside and outside of the
classroom.

Dr. Zakreski is an Adjunct Professor at local colleges and has presented his work on giftedness and Social-Emotional Learning at the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), the Society for the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG), the Delaware Psychological Association (DPA), and at the Maryland Gifted Association (MEGS). He is a Board Member of the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education (PAGE). He currently is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in private practice in Conshohocken, PA. Dr. Zakreski is also working on a book outlining his treatment philosophy of Client-Created Content (CCC), which includes using Improv games to teach social skills.
